Inventor Kenneth R. Hess of Prairie du Chien, WI has designed a protective arm sling that offers numerous enhancements over other arm slings on the market.

When his wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, one early-stage side effect was losing use of her right arm and hand. They tried multiple arm slings but could not find one that did not hurt her neck or one that would control her hand. As an automotive repair shop owner, Kenneth searched the materials he had available at the time. He selected a heavy truck mud flap made of plastic and cut out the shape he wanted. With the right amount of heat, he was able to form the sling. After cooling the plastic, it held its form. His wife liked leather, so he made the strap out of deer hide he had at the house. His wife was able to wear this prototype sling for months without any neck or shoulder pain! Since that day, his invention has been further developed and is now ready for market!
